Despite recently signing a deal with Warner Bros, Tom Cruise seems set to stay occupied with Paramount for the future. Top Gun 3 is actively in development, and the draft is currently being worked on by Ehren Kruger, who also co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick.

It’s rumored that the upcoming project will reunite Cruise with Miles Teller and Glen Powell, along with producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison. Joe Kosinski is said to be in consideration for either directing or producing the film.

Previously, Bruckheimer downplayed the likelihood of a third film, choosing not to disclose whether the action franchise might make a return in the future. “We’re just enjoying this one. I have no idea. It took 35 years to make Top Gun: Maverick so… I’m not going to be around another 35 years.”

Top Gun: Maverick stands as Cruise’s highest-grossing film to date, having raked in $1.49 billion. The movie secured an Oscar win last year for Best Sound and earned nominations in six categories at the Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Cruise is currently in the midst of filming Mission: Impossible 8 for Paramount. Additionally, Universal is working on Cruise’s outer space movie in collaboration with NASA, with Doug Liman serving as the director.
