Sydney Sweeney discusses her role as Julia Carpenter (Spider-Woman) in Sony and Marvel’s Madame Web film.

The Euphoria star is making a significant impact in Hollywood as she climbs her way to success, all while gracefully sidestepping the rumours that come her way. While speaking with Variety, Sweeney confirms about her character in upcoming Madame Web, co-starring with Dakota Johnson.

Talking about her role, Sweeney mentioned that she visited a comic store shortly after signing the film. “I was freaking out, of course. I went straight to the comic store, and I bought every comic that mentioned my character.”

Sydney Sweeney conveyed her optimism about Madame Web, even in light of the current slowdown in superhero film performance at the box office. “I think it’s different from what people expect a superhero movie to be,” she hints. “Quote that! That’s a quote, because the tabloids will pick up everything else we talk about.”

When asked if her character will play a larger role in Sony’s Spider-Man related cinematic universe, she said nothing but grinned knowingly. There’s no knowing where Julia Carpenter may appear in the future, with Sony aiming to grow with solo films like Kraven the Hunter.

Madame Web will centre around Cassandra Webb, a character who has typically been portrayed as an aged, visually impaired woman grappling with a persistent neuromuscular ailment that restricts her mobility and breathing functions. As a consequence of her state, Madame Web remains linked to a life-sustaining apparatus resembling a spider’s web. Cassandra possesses her own extraordinary capabilities – she is clairvoyant and possesses precognitive powers that enable her to perceive the life trajectories of others along the intricate “web of life.”
