Scream 7 has been in the works for a very long time. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Radio Silence will not be returning for this installment.
Happy Death Day creator Christopher Landon will be replacing Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett for the seventh part in the franchise. Radio Silence didn’t want to put their Universal Monster Movie, originally named Dracula’s Daughter, on the back burner again after putting it on the behind to film Scream VI, so they lost out on making the seventh part, which Paramount wants out as soon as possible.
According to sources, it is uncertain whether any of the cast members from Scream VI signed on before to the strike, but they have all indicated interest in returning. It’s also reported that no additional castings have been made.
Radio Silence has revived the Scream franchise with two popular movies, so it stands to reason that they want a third to complete the Carpenter tale.
The ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have stalled productions across Hollywood, so it may be some time before Scream 7 begins production.
