Adam Brody reveals he auditioned for the role of Peter Quill / Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Brody rocketed to fame as Seth Cohen in the young adult drama The O.C. two decades ago. Since then, he’s worked on everything from indie films like River Wild to big-budget superhero pictures like the Shazam! trilogy.

In the recent episode of Just for Variety podcast, Brody reflected on some of his previous auditions, including one for the ill-fated film “Gigli” in the part that finally went to Justin Bartha. He also stated that he would have wanted to portray Lloyd Christmas in the Dumb and Dumber prequel, Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd.

The O.C star says that he auditioned for the role of Peter Quill, popularly known as Star-Lord, in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, which went to Chris Pratt in the end. he “wanted” to land that role but agrees that Pratt was a “better” fit. “He is bigger, stronger, but tonally, I really dug it.”

Netflix’s reimagined River Wild breathes new life into Curtis Hanson’s classic 1994 thriller, featuring Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, and David Strathairn, which follows a treacherous rafting trip. Adam Brody takes on the role of a heavily-tattooed ex-convict determined to avoid going back to prison by any means necessary. As the story unfolds, the stakes are higher than ever, promising an intense and gripping ride down the river, filled with suspense and danger at every turn.

River Wild is available to stream on Netflix.
