The Tamil film Leo: Bloody Sweet, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Vijay, entered the global box office rankings in third place this weekend, earning an estimated $31.2 million worldwide, as reported by Comscore on Sunday.

Among the latest releases, Leo amassed $48.5 million worldwide in total after four days, surpassing the $44 million earned by Killers of the Flower Moon.

Leo had a U.S. release through Prathyangira Cinemas, achieving a weekend box office revenue of $2.1 million. In the UK and Ireland, it was distributed by Ahimsa Entertainment and garnered £1.07 million (equivalent to $1.3 million) within its initial three days of release.

Leo, which pays homage to David Cronenberg’s 2005 film “A History of Violence,” was released on October 19. This Hindi action-thriller centers around Vijay, a mild-mannered cafe owner, who is compelled to confront his violent past.

The Hindi movie cast includes notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, George Maryan, Priya Anand, and Mathew Thomas. The film is produced by S.S. Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy for Seven Screen Studios.

Vijay, known as “Thalapathy” to his fans, has partnered with Kanagaraj for the second time. Their prior collaboration was on the 2021 film Master, which earned $36 million. Following that, Vijay also starred in Beast (2022) and Varisu (2023), both of which achieved box office figures comparable to the success of Master.
