Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor Russell Brand has been accused of sexual assault.
The British star has been controversial over the years due to his drug usage, high-profile divorce from pop singer Katy Perry, and political views on COVID-19 and the vaccination.
The claims were made as part of a collaborative investigation by the Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches. Between 2006 and 2013, four women allege sexual assaults. The woman who claimed she was 16 when her initial interaction with Brand occurred told The Times, “”Russell engaged in the behaviors of a groomer, looking back, but I didn’t even know what that was then, or what that looked like.”
Brand has disputed the charges, claiming that his relationships have all been “consensual.”
He posted a video in which he refuted “serious criminal allegations” that he said would be levelled against him. The actor and comedian claimed he got letters from a television network and a newspaper with “a litany” of “aggressive attacks.”
The Metropolitan Police acknowledged that they were aware of media reports concerning a series of sexual assault allegations, without specifically mentioning the comedian’s name. However, they clarified that they had not yet received any formal reports or complaints regarding these allegations.”If anyone believes they have been the victim of a sexual assault, no matter how long ago it happened, we would encourage them to contact police.”
