An Elon Musk biopic is in the works at A24 with Darren Aronofsky set to direct.
The screenplay for the upcoming film about the controversial tech mogul will be based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography, released in September. Isaacson, who also wrote the acclaimed “Steve Jobs” book, previously saw his work adapted into the 2015 Universal film with the same title, featuring Michael Fassbender in the role of the Apple CEO.
According to sources, there was intense competition among studios and filmmakers seeking to secure the rights to Walter Isaacson’s book. Ultimately, A24 emerged as the victor in the bidding war.
Aronofsky, the acclaimed director behind last year’s Oscar contender The Whale starring Brendan Fraser, is set to helm the project. He is renowned for his surreal filmmaking style, often incorporating psychological elements, as seen in his previous works such as Requiem for a Dream. His direction on Black Swan earned him a best director Oscar nomination, with Natalie Portman winning the best actress award for her performance in the film.
