Paramount releases the most anticipated Mean Girls trailer, a musical reimagining of 2004 movie.

The movie, helmed by directors Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, was initially revealed in January 2020, with Tina Fey, the creator of both the original film and the musical, announcing the project. The official cast for the movie was later revealed in December 2022.

Adapted from the 2004 film and the subsequent 2018 Broadway musical with the same title, Mean Girls features Angourie Rice in the role of Cady, with Renée Rapp reprising her Broadway character as Regina, Auli’i Cravalho portraying Janis, Jaquel Spivey playing Damian, Anantika as Karen, and Bebe Wood as Gretchen.

Mean Girls creator Tina Fey and actor Tim Meadows reprise their roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duval, respectively. In the trailer, Jenna Fischer appears as Cady’s mother, Busy Philipps as Regina’s “cool mom” Mrs. George, Ashley Park as a teacher, and Jon Hamm as sex ed fearmonger Coach.

According to sources, the original Mean Girls ensemble, which includes Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, may appear in the movie. Seyfried told ET, “It’s been a long legacy for Mean Girls, and I think we all kinda just need to hang.”
