Matthew Perry, a well-known star from the famous TV series “Friends,” has passed away at the age of 54. He was discovered unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home after a 911 call reporting a water emergency.

At this point, there is no confirmed cause of death, and authorities have indicated that there is no evidence of foul play. The Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide detectives are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding his death, and the official cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office at a later time.

Matthew Perry, who portrayed the witty and beloved character Chandler Bing on “Friends,” achieved immense fame through the show’s incredible success. The series, which aired from 1994 to 2004, became a cultural phenomenon, turning Perry and his fellow cast members into household names.

In spite of his professional accomplishments, Perry struggled with a well-documented battle against addiction, primarily to alcohol and opioids. In his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” he openly shared his struggles and the toll that addiction took on his life, including a life-threatening colon rupture in 2018. Perry acknowledged that the pressure of performing in front of a live audience while on “Friends” exacerbated his challenges with substance abuse.

Despite his personal difficulties, Perry continued to work in the entertainment industry, making appearances in various television shows and films. In recent years, he found comfort in friendships, writing, and playing pickleball.

While Matthew Perry will be remembered for his significant contributions to the world of entertainment, he expressed his hope to be remembered as “a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well, and helped people.” Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and devoted fans during this challenging time.
