According to Timothée Chalamet, Jennifer Lawrence called filming Don’t Look Up with him the most annoying day of her life.
Chalamet had a promising 2023 with his roles in Paul King’s Wonka as Willy Wonka, a collaboration with Martin Scorsese for a Bleu de Chanel commercial, and the commencement of filming for James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
In a recent GQ cover story, Chalamet discussed his desire of staying active and how he battled with reducing his work schedule during the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020. Chalamet elaborated that his minor part in Adam McKay’s satirical comedy Don’t Look Up involved a longer quarantine period than actual shooting.
In 2020, when he travelled to Boston for the film, stringent COVID protocols mandated a 14-day quarantine. When he finally joined the set, he was highly eager to get back to work and engage with people once more. However, his enthusiasm was somewhat unsettling to some of his fellow cast members, including Lawrence.
“By the time I got to set I was buzzing,” Chalamet said. “That was the day Jennifer said was the most annoying day of her life, working with me and Leo. I exploded out of my room.”
Lawrence’s irritation might have been heightened by the fact that she used marijuana on set to get into the mindset of her stoner character. “I was a real target,” Lawrence said. “Everyone was fucking with me. I guess because I was high. Easy to fuck with.”
Don’t Look Up is streaming on Netflix.
