The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) recently welcomed another South Korean A-list actor to its lineup. Park Seo-joon, known for his role in Itaewon Class, joined the cast of The Marvels as Prince Yan. However, K-drama fans expressed disappointment over his limited screen time.
Taking on the character of Prince Yan, he unveils a surprising connection to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson). Despite fans acknowledging that Yan wasn’t a central figure in The Marvels, his presence featured prominently in multiple trailers. The actor also shared his enthusiasm for the role in behind-the-scenes interviews.
However, the disappointment among K-drama fans was palpable as they tuned in to watch The Marvels, only to find Park Seo-joon’s screen time for less than three minutes.
According to a report from Koreaboo, the fan asserted that the actor’s appearances totaled only 2 minutes and 47 seconds, allowing for a five-second margin of error. The report detailed that Prince Yan made his debut approximately one hour into the movie, featuring in flashbacks that explored his connection with Carol Danvers. Later on, he reappears to aid the three female leads in a major battle.
The South Korean actor commented that while his time in the movie was short, his character is important to Carol’s storyline development. In an interview with SBS Star, Park Seo-joon said, “I think Aladna and Prince Yan are the place and the figure that is important for showing the growth of Carol Danvers. Some might think my part in the movie is too short, but I believe it plays a crucial part in the overall narrative of The Marvels.”
The Marvels is on theatres now.
