Danny DeVito to Reprise His Hercules Role in Live-Action Remake

After the success of Disney‘s Aladdin, Guy Ritchie is set to helm another project, aiming to replicate his box office triumph with Hercules.

While Disney typically doesn’t carry over talent from animated projects to their live-action remakes, there have been exceptions. James Earl Jones notably reprised his role as Mufasa in the billion-dollar success, The Lion King, released in 2019. Now, drawing a parallel, Danny DeVito has conveyed his interest in returning to his role as Phil.

He said, “If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their a–, I am the live-action ‘Hercules’!”

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, it appears that Disney shares the same sentiments.

While the plot remains undisclosed, the anticipation is that the movie will adhere to the narrative of the animated classic. It revolves around Hercules, a demigod endowed with super-strength, raised among mortals. He embarks on a quest to prove himself as a genuine hero, with the ultimate goal of regaining his divine status and securing a place on Mount Olympus. Throughout his journey, he must contend with the schemes of his villainous uncle, Hades, who is determined to thwart his ascent.
