Zendaya’s Steamy Challengers Delays as SAG Strike Continues

Zendaya-

Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist has been shift from its September release date.

Audiences will have to wait a little longer since the film’s world premiere at the Venice Film Festival has been cancelled owing to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The drama about an eccentric pair immersed in the world of professional tennis was meant to be shown for the first time in Venice, but plans have altered due to studios’ refusal to pay reasonable salaries to its employees.

In addition to the cancellation of the global premiere, the film’s release date has been changed, and it will now be released in theatres on April 26, 2024.

After a week of discussions, Venice organizers confirmed in a statement on Friday that the Challengers, “will not participate at the festival following a decision made by the production.”

Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures/Amazon Studios is handling film’s domestic distribution, while Warner Bros. Pictures controls foreign release.
