Are you ready for the mind-bending journey that is What If…? Season 2? Marvel Studios is keeping us on our toes with their next Disney+ release, and it’s all set to be our Christmas treat this year. This time around, get ready for nine thrilling anthology short stories, each set in alternate timelines across the vast MCU Multiverse.
Jeffery Wright returns as the enigmatic Uatu, The Watcher, our trusty narrator and the glue that ties it all together. While some of our favorite characters and voice actors will be reprising their roles in Season 2, there’s a host of fresh voices and new versions of our beloved characters to look forward to in the upcoming season.
So, what can we expect from Season 2 of What If…?? While the exact twists that our beloved MCU characters will take remain shrouded in mystery, we do have a list of tantalizing episode titles. Just like the first season, we’ll have nine episodes, each unfolding in a different timeline, and possibly a different era altogether.
These episode titles for What If…? Season 2 hint at the return of some familiar variants from the first season, possibly continuing their captivating story arcs. Each title drops intriguing hints about the storyline it might explore, promising an even more exciting ride than the previous season.
These titles explore various MCU events unfolding in unexpected ways, stretching as far back as the discovery of the Tesseract, even predating the origins of the MCU with Captain America: The First Avenger. And there’s a delightful surprise for fans of musical episodes with a nod to Hawkeye’s ‘Rogers: The Musical in the Wanda episode. While these titles are yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel Studios or their representatives, they seem pretty on-point, considering the narrative twists we’ve seen in What If…? events before. Plus, they align with earlier concept reveals, leaks, and reports from early 2023.
It’s still anyone’s guess which episode will ultimately bring all these diverse timelines together into a multiversal tapestry, much like Season 1’s Vision Ultron episode did. However, the final two episodes dropping hints about Asgardian elements and mystical collisions (with Odin’s magic and Wenwu’s Ten Rings) seem like strong contenders. Will Uatu, The Watcher, be drawn into action once again? We can’t wait to find out!
The Cast of What If…? Season 2
Now, let’s talk about the star-studded cast of What If…? Season 2. Marvel Studios has confirmed that this season will feature fresh voices from the live-action MCU entries. Alongside the returning Jeffrey Wright, we have Hayley Atwell, Josh Keaton (Steve Rogers), Lake Bell (Natasha Romanoff), Jeff Goldblum, Taika Waititi, Mick Wingert (Tony Stark), and Cynthia McWilliams (Gamora) reprising their roles from Season 1. But there’s more! Season 2 introduces Cate Blanchett as Hela, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, and Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster (Giant-Man), adding even more star power to the cast.
Fans are eager to know if other beloved characters like Wenwu, Red Guardian, Melina Vostokof, and Valkyrie will also make appearances. The burning question is whether their original actors, such as David Harbour or Rachel Weisz, will lend their voices to the series. Fingers crossed!
Marvel Studios went all out to enlist as many original actors as possible to voice their MCU characters, but there might be a few A-listers we’re still hoping to hear in What If…? Season 2.
