Paul Rudd made a fan’s day when he appeared in their music video as a fumbling mailman, a position unusual for the actor.
The 23-year-old singer Claud randomly met Hollywood actor Paul during Taylor Swift’s Eras tour and was later surprised when he decided to feature in a music video for the song ‘A Good Thing’ after hearing it on his current album and contacting Claud by email to express his interest.
Speaking in a video posted to TikTok, Claud said: “I was like, ‘Paul Rudd, this sounds kind of weird but there’s a song on my album, the song’s called ‘Paul Rudd. He was so nice about it and he gave me his email and was like, ‘Send it to me. I’d love to hear your album. I can’t believe it. He came for the whole entire day. He stayed for like five hours, and we shot that whole scene and danced outside.”
The artist added that they titled the song after Rudd as a method of seeing oneself as the “cool, confident, and charismatic” figure the actor frequently plays onscreen and is in real life.
Rudd plays a mailman in the film who attempts to hand Claud all of the mail from his bag and appears unsure on how to execute his job. When Claud inquires about his day, Rudd replies that it has been difficult.
“It’s just like, I’m walking, it’s so many houses, it’s hot, I have this ferret. … Something’s wrong with his eye,” he says.
Finally, Rudd hands Claud the right package, and the singer tells him it’s from their girlfriend. “Girlfriend? I wish I had a girlfriend,” the mailman shares. “I just have a ferret.”
