Zachary Levi has expressed his willingness to return as Shazam in the new DC Universe. When asked about the possibility of joining James Gunn DCU in a different role, similar to Sean Gunn, Levi responded with his characteristic wit.

In a recent interview with ComicBook, he was asked about potential developments for Shazam in future. Acknowledging that he hasn’t engaged in any discussions and that such decisions are beyond his control, he praised the character and expressed his love for both Shazam! films.

“I’m really proud of both films. I really think the second film was, in some respects, better than the first. And the first was really good. I’m really proud of both of them. I would love to be able to do more iterations of it. I would love to collaborate with Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern.”

However, when asked if Spy Kids star would like to reappear in DCU as another character similar to Sean Gunn – who played Weasel and Calendar Man in The Suicide Squad – Levi said, “When you’re the brother of the guy who runs DC, I guess you get to play who you want.”

Levi also characterized James Gunn’s approach to the DC Universe as an evolving process rather than a reboot.

“It’s kind of a rolling reset, if you will,” Levi said. “There’s a lot of things that were inherited that were already kind of well before Peter and James even got to the positions they’re in right now. There were lots of conversations about what’s going to move forward and what’s not, and how do we, ‘How do we?’ I’m way over here as a part of the ‘we,’ but how do the powers that be figure out how to chop this up and try to make it work moving forward?”
