The Devil Wears Prada iconic trio reunited onstage to present Male Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2024 SAG Awards.
Co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, who had received SAG and Oscar nominations for her supporting role in Oppenheimer, reunited 18 years later to present an award at the SAG Awards. The event aired live on Netflix on Saturday, February 24.
Streep went up the stage in a Prada gown to deliver the first award of the evening, but fell humorously when she reached the microphone.
“Two things,” Streep said. “I forgot my glasses, clearly. And the envelope.”
Those issues were swiftly resolved when her former onscreen assistants, Blunt and Hathaway, joined her on stage. Blunt presented the envelope with the winner (Jeremy Allen White for The Bear), while Hathaway brought Streep’s glasses.
Any time the ensemble is seen together, it sparks curiosity about another The Devil Wears Prada movie. However, Hathaway appeared to exclude out sequel ideas in 2022, acknowledging that, while “tempting” to consider, the film’s premise could only exist in a specific time period.
“I just think that movie was in a different era,” Hathaway said. “Now everything’s gone so digital and that movie is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s just, it’s just very different.”
