Who is Making the AHS Season 12?
On April 10, 2023, Murphy, creator of American Horror Story, made a spine-tingling announcement. Halley Feiffer, known for her work on Impeachment: American Crime Story, will be the showrunner and writer for the upcoming season, American Horror Story Delicate.
This marks a historic shift as it’s the first time Murphy won’t be in the showrunner’s seat. The bone-chilling series is produced by Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, Ryan Murphy Television, and 20th Television. The horror continues with a new master of the macabre at the helm.
What is AHS Delicate About?
It’s the first season of the horror anthology to be based on a book, in this instance Danielle Valentine’s Delicate Condition, which was released in August.
According to the novel’s synopsis, the tale centers on Anna Alcott, a gifted actress who becomes convinced that a malevolent force is determined to thwart her dream of becoming a mother. Despite her arduous journey, she manages to conceive through IVF, but her world shatters when a devastating miscarriage occurs. Consumed by a haunting conviction that her unborn baby somehow lingers within her, Anna becomes increasingly isolated in her anguish, as no one else is willing to believe her unsettling and heart-wrenching assertions.
As per FX, the official synopsis says, “In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott (Roberts) wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her — and her pursuit of motherhood.”
“It is essentially a horror novel about pregnancy,” Valentine told EW. “It’s a novel exploring not just the actual physical gruesomeness of what pregnancy is, but also the medical gaslighting that even modern, very privileged women experience as they’re going through their pregnancies and the symptoms that I feel we as a culture still don’t talk about for strange reasons.”
