Netflix‘s long-awaited One Piece live-action adaptation has finally arrived, with a big budget to match its massive audience.
The eight-part series has officially been revealed to come with an astonishing cost of $17 million per episode, surpassing even the extravagant costs of the fantasy epic HBO series, Game of Thrones.
Netflixwoche, the official German Netflix website disclosed that Game of Thrones carried a slightly lower price per episode, standing at approximately $14.79 million per installment. This budgetary comparison mirrors the entire expenditure for the eighth and concluding season of Game of Thrones, rumored to be around $90 million, a season that left many fans feeling unsatisfied with its ending.
Showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda have brought to life a series based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, which was adapted into a beloved anime in 1999. Starring Iaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, the show follows the journey of Luffy as he embarks on a quest to reclaim the fabled treasure.
One Piece live-action is available to stream on Netflix.
