Kraven the Hunter was originally pitched as the main villain for Spiderman No Way Home but the writers were told the character “was unavailable until Sony established him in a solo movie.”
In a recent interview with Collider, Tom Holland, the actor behind Spiderman, revealed an intriguing revelation about the making of Spiderman: No Way Home. According to Holland, director Jon Watts had an entirely developed concept for introducing Kraven the Hunter in the Spiderman movie. This story was ready to be incorporated into the sequel to Spiderman: Far From Home if needed.
However, plans took a different turn when Marvel and Sony chose to explore the multiverse concept for No Way Home. As a result, Watts’ Kraven the Hunter storyline was temporarily set aside. The good news is that Kraven the Hunter is still set to make his live-action debut, but it will be in a standalone film scheduled for release in 2024.
Imagine for a moment what a Spider-Man movie centered around Kraven the Hunter might have been like. It could have provided a more down-to-earth and personal narrative, pitting Spiderman against a single, formidable adversary. Alternatively, Jon Watts might have devised a way to incorporate Kraven into the complex multiverse storyline.
Regardless of the direction taken, it’s evident that Kraven the Hunter enjoys immense popularity among Spiderman enthusiasts. There’s no denying the hype for his upcoming solo movie.
