Jessica Chastain puts rest to rumors surrounding her playing the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
Despite being a beloved choice among fans to portray Celia St. James in the Netflix adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Chastain delivered disappointing news. She explicitly stated that there is “zero possibility” of her taking on the role.
In an interview with E!, she said, “I look forward to watching it and I’m sorry to disappoint everyone out there!”
She added, “But I love how excited the fans are. When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they’d be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is.”
Leslye Headland, co-creator and director of Netflix’s Russian Doll, will be taking the directorial reins for the film. Liz Tigelaar, known for her expertise in adapting best-selling books such as Little Fires Everywhere and Tiny Beautiful Things, is on board as the project’s writer.
Chastain’s upcoming appearance will be in the film Memory, alongside Peter Sarsgaard.
