Hugh Grant continues to voice his displeasure of playing a CGI Oompa Loompa in Wonka.

The Bridget Jones star takes on the role of Lofty, a diminutive Oompa-Loompa with an orange complexion, in the musical prequel of Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s tale, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

He has been very candid about how unpleasant it was to be a CGI character in the new movie likening the process of wearing a crown of thorns. In a recent roundtable interview among his cast members, he once again digs at GCI, “Got 16 cameras all over [your face] and they’re sticking into you and up on a screen. A sort of computer nerd sitting off to the side of the room.”

Grant continued to elaborate that during the filming process, he was uncertain about whether he should perform using his entire body or solely focus on his facial expressions.

“I never received a satisfactory answer. And frankly, what I did with my body was terrible, and it’s all been replaced with an animator.”

However, about the dancing scenes, Grant clarified that it was done by him.

Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet is out on theatres.
