Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks behind a popular Christmas movie, Polar Express, are thinking about making a new one.
They’re thinking about making a follow-up to the fan favorite Christmas movie. Goetzman says it’s a project they want to do, but there might be some challenges. They’re trying to figure it out and make it happen.
In an interview with ComicBook, Goetzman explained, “I’d love to do a sequel of Where The Wild Things Are. There’s a lot of the things that we’ve done, if it established itself, branded itself, those movies, studios want another one. That’s the way it goes. I’m up for Mamma Mia 3, man. That would be a ball to do right about now. But it becomes, there’s so much involved with, ‘Who’s artistic property would that be? Would that be?’ It’s just not like, ‘Hey, let’s go do another free sailing! So, they all take time and that’s okay because we don’t mind things going slowly. But that is trying to be worked out now, for sure, Polar 2. Yes.”
Polar Express hit the screens twenty years ago, directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by William Boyles Jr. Over the years, it has become a big deal in our culture. People often talk about its animation and story on social media.
Even though there have been rumors and guesses, no second movie or a story that happened before the first one has been made in the twenty years since it came out.
